BOLT ACTION RIFLES: CIBLE CLERMONTOISE IS THE NAME OF THE SHOOTING CLUB IN CLERMONT DANS L’OISE THAT HOSTED THE 5TH EDITION OF THE OPEN DE FRANCE FROM 13TH THROUGH 15TH APRIL, 2018: A COMPETITION FOR BIG CALIBER GUNS ORGANIZED BY THE FRENCH SHOOTING FEDERATION (FFTIR) IN COMPLIANCE WITH ISSF REGULATIONS.
Over the years the event has gone from being exclusively a Competition between the Transalpine France and England to a much broader event with the participation of Spain, Belgium and Luxemburg. Italy has joined in 2018 with a Team of four shooters: Riccardo Ranzani, Lorenzo Prodan, Simone Verrillo and Fabio Borghini.
The shooting event includes two Free Gun Competitions from the Ground with bolt action rifles and a “Special Event” reserved to the eight finalists.
Ranzani shot his beloved Sabatti STR bolt action rifle – the same rifle he used when setting the Italian record for his category in Colle Val D’Elsa – and scored a very nice 14th overall (590/600 and 588/600) and 8th in the Final. All shooters competed at the highest level, and the world specialty record was almost broken right on day one.
During the award presentation, the French Federation Representative formally invited the Italian Team to attend the International Competition during the Grand Opening of the new Federation Shooting Complex.
This was another successful adventure for Riccardo Ranzani and his Sabatti, one that will help him keep his reputation as one of the best Shooters in the World.
